VFW 2894 Supported Veteran Family - WAVY 10 News Update
Service to Veterans
Jim Ireland (Service Officer) and Jose Vasquez (Post Commander) working with Habitat for Humanity building a veteran's home.
The core mission of VFW Post 2894 is to
"Honor the Fallen by Helping the Living"
We have:
- Built wheel chair ramps and modified homes for handicap access
- Provided manual and power wheel chairs
- Identified sources for personal care and support
- Assisted veterans navigate the medical and support system to use earned benefits.
To fund these project we:
- Sponsor the annual Bataan Death March at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail
- Provide the Post 2894 Hot Dog Cart at VFW and community events
- Receive and restore donated wheel chairs, ramps and other medical equipment
- Have teamed with Home Depot, Lowes, Heating/Ventilation and Roofing contractors to support veterans in need
- Receive donations
